How Non-chlorine Shock Treatments Control Organics:

Using monopersulfate rather than chlorine makes shocking pool and spa water easier, less messy, and more effective. For years, conventional wisdom told us to routinely superchlorinate every week or two. But that's yesterday's technology. Drawbacks to shocking with chlorine include its effect on pH, stabilizer buildup and extended that "dried out" feeling you get after spa use. There's a better way.

Chlorine Shock vs. Non-Chlorine Shock:

The purpose of chlorine in pool and spa water is to kill microorganisms. The reaction between chlorine and these organics is, unfortunately, not complete. There are many byproducts left behind in the water. These include dead bacteria, dead algae and numerous chlorinated organics. Chlorine combines with ammonia compounds in the water to form chloramines. Studies have shown that superchlorination does not remove organic chloramines and, in fact, leads to the formation of more chloramines. SpaPure Chlorine-Free Shock Treatment is an oxygen-based oxidizer which reacts completely with organic waste including chloramines. This frees up the chlorine for more sanitation. Other organic waste is burned away in the form of harmless gasses. Chloramines are effectively removed and the water is left fresh and odor-free. And swimming or hot tub use can resume within 15 minutes after treatment!
